My Journey

I was called to Reiki in what I can only describe as Divine Intervention. I had just lost my job, it was almost Christmas, I couldn’t even get unemployment started because offices were closed, nobody was hiring. I was forced to let go of any planning for recovery from unemployment. It was during the final days of the year that I found myself watching TV, pretty contently, when I heard a thought pop into my head – so clearly it was as though someone was speaking to me from within my living room. That thought was, “I want to learn Reiki.”

I had heard of Reiki because I was an esthetician in spas and worked with lots of massage therapists who had mentioned it. However, I had no idea what it was, or how you do it, or even why. It was just a crystal clear thought, complete in its simplicity. So I started researching online. This helped very little, as I didn’t even know what it was, so it was difficult to know what to look for. Information was vague, at best. So I posted on Facebook: “I’ve decided that I want to learn Reiki.”

Shortly after that, a friend and former co-worker of mine called me. She had found a facility that rents rooms by the hour. It was a very enlightened place and she thought it was a wonderful fit for my growth. Oh, and by the way, her mom is a Reiki Master and could teach me.

I was certain the universe was lining up for me. Within a few weeks, I was attuned level one. I was exhilarated! I was embarking on the terrifying task of starting my own business and learning a new talent, while in the midst of great financial uncertainty. Once I started on this journey, everything has just worked exactly the way it’s supposed to. Or maybe I just recognize it as such. By summer, I was ready for level two, then immediately leaped into level three. I wanted that master symbol so badly!

To me, Reiki is something everyone should learn. Everyone should be at least a level one. I have felt that way since I first learned what it means to use Reiki. It is empowering. It is a gift to us from the universe. Every time someone uses Reiki, the entire universe is just a little more right.

It took me about 4 years before I felt the calling to be a Master Teacher. I didn’t even consider it until about 6 months before I approached my Reiki Master. Just like when I decided to learn about Reiki, the ball moved quickly and here I am.

What my story tells me is that the universe is calling for more Reiki. There is an expansion that is being summoned by the facilitating of new Reiki practitioners. I am always honored when I can provide Reiki services to people and animals, and continue to use it myself to further my growth and enrich my life. I am constantly finding new-to-me ways of using Reiki in my times of needs and times of wants. It has truly been a blessing to me, and I am anxious to share it with others so that they may find the wonderfully mysterious and mystical ways it can benefit them.
